Chinese, Pakistani couple arrested at Islamabad airport as crackdown continues

Islamabad (Staff Report): The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Friday arrested Chinese and Pakistani couples at Islamabad Airport as a crackdown against human trafficking continued.

According to officials, the arrested Chinese nationals appeared as married couples and were smuggling Pakistani girls to China. Two Chinese men and three Pakistani women were among those arrested by the agency, they added.

The FIA further said that the Chinese nationals were involved in organ trafficking.

The FIA sprung into action this week after it was unearthed that Pakistani women, after marrying Chinese nationals, were forced into prostitution and relocated to China.

Earlier the day, a spokesperson of the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan in a statement said, “We have noted media reports and that the Pakistani side is taking measures in accordance with its domestic laws and regulations. Relevant cases are now under investigation”.
