Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pakistan rose to 861,473 on Monday after 3,447 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.
According to the National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC), the country’s death toll climbed to 18,993 after 78 more people succumbed to the deadly disease during the last 24 hours.
Meanwhile, about 4,824 patients recovered from the deadly disease in a day taking total recoveries to 762,105.
Last week, the NCOC announced that all educational institutions — schools, colleges, universities, and others — across the country will remain closed till May 23.
The decision was taken in a meeting of the NCOC held to review the coronavirus situation in the country.
The NCOC said a meeting to review the decision would be held on May 18 and the decision to reopen the educational institutions would be taken after taking into account the coronavirus situation at the time.
