COVID-19: Pakistan reports 671 new infections, 6 deaths in last 24 hours

Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The total number of recovered COVID-19 patients in Pakistan reached 303, 102 on Saturday after another 394 virus recoveries were reported during the last 24 hours.

Over the last twenty four hours, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases rose to 318,266 after 671 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country.

Overall, 139,910 cases were reported in Sindh, 100,484 in Punjab, 38,273 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 15,498 in Balochistan, 17,210 in Islamabad, 3,900 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 2,991 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

According to the government's Covid-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached 6,558 with 6 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) on Friday issued a notification announcing the new standard operating procedures (SOPs) for marriage halls.

As per the new guidelines, the events can only be held for two hours and must end by 10pm.

Moreover, a crowd of 300 will be allowed at indoor events and 500 at outdoor events.

The NCOC recommended that hall managements follow the SOPs strictly to avoid spread of COVID-19 during wedding functions.

The national body on prevention of coronavirus warned that the wedding halls will be sealed and imposed a heavy fine if found to be violating Covid-19 SOPs.

It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 37.1 million and death toll tops 1.05 million.
