PM Shehbaz given vice-chairmanship of UN COP-27

Islamabad (Web Desk): The 27th United Nations (UN) Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP-27) has announced to handover its vice-chairmanship to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Among the 195 countries of the United Nations, Pakistan has received the honour as a result of the effective voice raised by PM Shehbaz Sharif at global and regional forums, regarding the need for an urgent climate action plan.

Egypt’s President Abdul Fattah Al-Sisi has invited Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to co-chair the COP-27 meeting.

PM Sharif will jointly chair the roundtable conference along with the president of Egypt and the prime minister of Norway, being held in Egypt’s Sharm-el-Sheikh from November 6-8.

The meeting will be attended by world leaders, think tanks, and the heads of governments and international financial institutions.

This will be the 27th meeting organized by the UN regarding the problems of climate change and the need for sustainable solutions.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the prime minister of Norway and the Egyptian President will jointly chair the roundtable conference.

The COP-27 meeting is beginning in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt from the 6th of next month which will be attended by world leaders, heads of governments and representatives of think tanks and international financial institutions.

Shehbaz Sharif has been entrusted the Vice Presidency for being an effective voice on climate change.

Following the recent floods in Pakistan, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif effectively voiced immediate action on challenges of climate change, at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Heads of State and Government, Samarkand, and the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.
