Youm-e-Ashur being observed across Pakistan with due solemnity, reverence

Islamabad (Staff Report/Agencies): Youm-e-Ashur, the tenth of Muharram-ul-Haram, is being observed today (Tuesday) across the country with due solemnity to pay homage to the supreme sacrifices rendered by Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A) and his 72 devoted companions in Karbala.


Taazia and Zuljanah processions were being taken out in all cities and towns across the country today in memory of martyrs of Karbala.

Alam, Zuljinah and Taazia processions were taken out in all cities and towns of the country. Ulema and Zakireen will highlight the teachings of Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A.) and various aspects of Karbla tragedy.

Elaborate arrangements have been made to ensure security of mourning processions and majalis. Police and other law enforcement agencies have been deployed to ensure law and order situation.

In Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan all the roads leading to Imambargahs have been guarded through special security deployment and strict security is being ensured for the processions.

In view of Muharram processions traffic police have announced alternative routes and traffic arrangements. Major medical facilities have cancelled holidays of their staff members to meet any emergency on the occasion of Ashura.

Pillion riding has been banned and cell phone service has been suspended in various cities across the country. Closed-circuit cameras have also been installed at sensitive points to keep a watch on majalis and processions.

Meanwhile, the devotees on Monday brought main processions from Imambargahs across the country to observe the 9th of Muharram with religious fervour and sanctity to pay tributes to Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions in Karbala.

In the federal capital the main procession of Taazia and Zuljinah was taken out from Markazi Imambargah G-6/2 and concluded at the same place after passing through the traditional routes.

The main procession in Karachi started from Nishtar Park and took the traditional route through the city.

In Lahore, the main procession emerged from Islampura. The processions also proceeded peacefully in Quetta and Peshawar.
