Raheel Sharif calls on COAS Bajwa at GHQ

Rawalpindi (Staff Report/Agencies): Commander-In-Chief of Islamic Alliance against Terrorism, (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia) General (retired) Raheel Sharif called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa at General Headquarters (GHQ) on Monday.

According to a press release issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), matters related to regional stability and peace were discussed during the meeting.

COAS General Qamar Javed Bajwa appreciated the efforts of Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) towards regional peace and security, the ISPR statement added.

A delegation of the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition led by former Army chief General (retd) Raheel Sharif on late Sunday arrived in Islamabad on its maiden visit to the country.

According to sources, the visiting delegation is likely to hold key meetings with the civil and military leadership of the country. The military officials are expected to meet Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani and Foreign Minister Shah Mehmoood Qureshi besides Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa and Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Zubair Mahmood Hayat.

They further said that the focus of the 2-day visit will be on the regional situation as well as counter-terrorism measures taken by the coalition.

“The delegation is also expected to discuss the upcoming visit of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman to Pakistan,” the sources added.

The delegation will return to Saudi Arabia on Tuesday.

Former army chief General (retd) Raheel Sharif was made the chief of 39-nation Islamic military coalition formed to combat terrorism.
