Islamabad (Staff Report): Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar on Wednesday took suo motu notice of the rape and murder of the seven-year old girl in Kasur.
Taking notice of the horrific incident, the CJP ordered the IG Punjab to submit a report within 24 hours.
Earlier, Chief Justice Lahore High Court Syed Mansoor Ali Shah also took notice of Zainab’s killing. The chief justice sought a detailed report of the incident from the district and sessions judge Kasur.
Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Shehbaz Sharif also took notice of the incident, directing provincial police chief to immediately arrest the culprits.
Sadar police station registered an FIR on the complaint of the victim’s uncle, Muhammad Adnan.
It is pertinent to remember that Zainab, a resident of Rod Kot area of Kasur , was kidnapped on her way to tuition centre on January 5. Her body was found in a garbage pile near Kashmir Chowk after four days.
According to postmortem report, the minor was strangled to death after being raped, adding that the girl was raped multiple times.
According to locals, when the incident occurred the minor’s parents were in Saudi Arabia, where they had gone to perform Umrah. After hearing about the incident, the parents were expected to return to the country yesterday, they added.
