The model and actress made her debut in the Ranbir Kapoor starrer, remembers working on the project and why she took it on.

Indian media reports that Fakhri never planned on acting as a career but took up Rockstar with an alternative motive; to learn about her parents culture.

In an interview Nargis expressed, “When I decided to participate in this project my only thoughts were that of a new adventure to explore a new country and to get to know my dad’s culture and my mom’s Culture. Since Rockstar was shot in Northern India (Nargis’ father is from Pakistan) and in Czech Republic (Nargis’ mother is Czech) I was very excited about that.”

She adds, “Shooting for the film was a tumultuous journey which changed my life in more ways than one. I am forever grateful to Imtiaz for choosing me to be a part of this beautiful project. By his choice, he changed my life and the lives of people around me. He even saved a life, which one day I may share with him.”

Rockstar definitely was a turning point for Nargis as the 38-year-old would soon be a part of many Bollywood projects like Madras Cafe, Main Tera Hero and Banjo. But for the actor, her debut movie would always be special, with it motivating her to stay in the field.

Nargis said, “I was not an actress before Rockstar and I never intended to be one. When Rockstar was narrated, I fell in love with the story. It touched my heart and soul. When I heard the film was doing well, my reaction was happiness for the director and everyone who participated in creating this film. I did not anticipate or expect anything. I lived a very nomadic lifestyle and did not expect to even stay in India after this film. I figured I’d be off to my next adventure and new place soon enough.”

She adds, “Never regret, If it’s good, that’s wonderful. If it’s bad, its an experience.”

Despite this, the cast and crew of Rockstar has not been in touch since the release of the film.

She says, "I have not spoken to anyone after the release of Rockstar. I didn’t realise that relationships on film sets usually just last during the course of the film shoot.”

Nowadays, Nargis Fakhri is working on a Hollywood project 5 Weddings. After ‘Spy’ this will be her second Hollywood project.
