Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The total number of recovered COVID-19 patients in Pakistan reached 263,193 on Wednesday after another 1,947 virus recoveries were reported during the last 24 hours.
Over the last twenty four hours, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases rose to 285,921 after 730 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country.
Overall, 124,556 cases were reported in Sindh, 94,715 in Punjab, 34,859 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 11,956 in Balochistan, 15,296 in Islamabad, 2,382 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 2,157 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
According to the government's Covid-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached 6,129 with 17 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.
Meanwhile, Co-chair of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Bill Gates has acknowledged Pakistan's efforts to combat the novel coronavirus.
During a telephonic conversation, Prime Minister Imran Khan and Bill Gates discussed the latest developments on Covid-19.
The premier briefed Bill Gates about the decline in coronavirus cases in Pakistan.
He said the government's smart lockdown policy has been effective in improving the situation in the country.
PM Imran acknowledged the Gates Foundation's continued support to Pakistan which includes COVID-19 response.
He noted that the repurposing of polio infrastructure played an important role in COVID-19 response.
Prime Minister Imran Khan and Mr Gates agreed to continue their cooperation on shared priorities.
It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 20.34 million and death toll tops 741,000.
