PIA grounds all ATR aircraft

Islamabad (Staff Report): Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced to suspend its ATR operation.

According to PIA spokesman, all ten ATR aircrafts of PIA will remain grounded till they are cleared thorough shakedown tests that will be held in view of Civil Aviation Authority’s (CAA) decision.

Temporary suspension of operation will particularly affect the PIA flights to smaller airports like Gwadar, Turbat, Panjgur, Moenjodaro, Zhob, Bahawalpur, DG Khan, Chitral and Gilgit.

Passengers are advised to check status of their flights from PIA Call Center at 111-786-786.

On November 7, flight PK-661 was crashed near Havelian after one of its two turboprop engines reportedly failed while travelling from Chitral to Islamabad, killing 47 people on board.
