Islamabad/Lahore (Web Desk): Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders Dr Shireen Mazari and Dr Yasmin Rashid and were during police raids in Islamabad and Lahore on Friday morning.
According to officials, the Islamabad police raided Shireen Mazari's house during the early hours of Friday.
Mazari's arrest comes after a series of arrests of several other PTI leaders, including, Asad Umar, Fawad Chaudhry, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Ali Mohammad Khan, and Ejaz Chaudhry.
All of these leaders were arrested under section three of the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO).
According to a PTI statement, former Punjab health minister Dr Yasmin Rashid has also been arrested.
Former PTI MNA Andleeb Abbas said that Dr Yasmeen was hiding to avoid arrest.
There are a number of cases filed against Dr Yasmin Rashid including that of an attack on Lahore Corps Commander's residence during violent demonstrations after the arrest of PTI chief Imran Khan on Tuesday.
On the other hand, the Supreme Court (SC) on Thursday Supreme Court (SC) had declared PTI Imran Khan's arrest from the premises of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) as 'illegal'.
The apex court also directed the PTI chief to approach the Islamabad High Court (IHC).
The directives were issued by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial while hearing Imran’s plea against his arrest.
A three-member SC bench comprising Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial, Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar and Justice Athar Minallah heard Imran Khan’s plea against his arrest in the Al-Qadir Trust case.
The top court had said Imran would be kept in the Police Lines Guest House but would not be considered a prisoner, and directed the Islamabad police chief to ensure the ex-premier’s security.
Imran Khan was arrested on May 9 by the paramilitary Rangers force on orders from the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) from the Islamabad High Court (IHC), over allegations of having looted Rs50 billion along with a property tycoon from the national treasury and getting the Al-Qadir University Trust registered on 450-kanal of land.
