WHO chief says COVID-19 is ‘not tired’, urges vigilance

The general public may be tired of the new COVID-19 but should remain on high alert, says the World Health Organisation (WHO) chief.

“We may be tired of Covid-19 but it is not tired of us. European countries are struggling but the virus has not changed significantly, nor the measures to stop it,” WHO director-general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said at the Paris Peace Forum.

Pakistan has recorded 784 recoveries from coronavirus, taking the country's total to 320,849, according to the government's Covid-19 portal.

The portal shows that 1,164 virus patients are in critical condition.

The government’s database for tracking the spread of coronavirus in the country shows that 390 Covid-19 cases and nine additional fatalities were reported in Punjab in the last 24 hours.

Sindh remains the worst-hit province by the pandemic in terms of cases followed by Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Islamabad.

At least 152,072 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Sindh, 108,221 in Punjab, 41,258 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 22,765 in Islamabad, 16,226 in Balochistan, 5,041 in Azad Kashmir and 4,409 in Gilgit-Baltistan.
