Ousted PM Nawaz likely to return Pakistan tonight, will appear before AC on Friday

Lahore (Staff Report): Ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif is likely to return to Pakistan tonight and will appear before the Accountability Court (AC) hearing the references against him and his family filed by National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB).

Nawaz, his daughter Maryam, and son-in-law MNA Capt (retd) Safdar are expected to be indicted by the court on Friday (tomorrow).

Nawaz Sharif left for London on a scheduled trip last week to see his ailing wife who has been undergoing cancer treatment there.

Meanwhile, Capt (retd) Safdar on Thursday requested the Islamabad High Court (IHC) to postpone the date of his indictment in a corruption reference, arguing that the prosecution against him has been initiated in haste.

In his petition, Safdar argued that the indictment cannot happen until at least seven days after the first appearance of the accused in court. Since it will have been only four days on October 13 since Safdar's appearance, he has requested the IHC to cancel the indictment tomorrow (Friday).
