Imran Khan Disqualification case: SC adjourns hearing till 26 September

Islamabad (Staff Report): The 3-member Supreme Court bench led by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar resumed hearing the disqualification case against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan today.

PTI chairman's lawyer Naeem Bukhari informed the bench that he has submitted his reply as per the court orders.

Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar remarked that Bukhari still has to submit the missing financial details of Imran's Bani Gala property.

The chief justice also asked about the details of funds sent by Jemima for the Bani Gala property purchase. He remarked that the PTI chairman's reply does not include details of how the property was purchased in Jemima's name. You need to satisfy the court regarding the 160,000 pounds, the chief justice remarked further.

Bukhari assured the bench he will try his best to provide all the information court has asked.

The hearing has been adjourned till 26th September.

The disqualification petition was moved by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Hanif Abbasi against PTI Chairman Imran Khan and PTI leader Jahangir Tareen.

The petition asks for the disqualification of Imran Khan and PTI Secretary General Jahangir Tareen for the non-disclosure of assets, ownership of offshore companies and for PTI being a foreign-funded party.

Meanwhile, Abbasi's counsel Akram Sheikh had argued that it was necessary to prove the source of funds arguing over the money trail of Imran Khan's properties.
