COVID-19: Pakistan reports 584 new infections, 3 deaths in last 24 hours

Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The total number of recovered COVID-19 patients in Pakistan reached 288,536 on Saturday after another 330 virus recoveries were reported during the last 24 hours.

Over the last twenty four hours, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases rose to 300,955 after 584 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country.

Overall, 131,675 cases were reported in Sindh, 97,602 in Punjab, 36,862 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 13,401 in Balochistan, 15,862 in Islamabad, 3,164 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 2,389 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

According to the government's Covid-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached 6,373 with 3 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, Sindh government spokesperson Murtaza Wahab has urged the Sindh education department and the federal government to reconsider the decision of reopening schools, stating that the "situation is still not certain".

In a tweet, Wahab stressed that children may not be able to follow the COVID-19 SOPs and that the infection has still not been eliminated across the country.

It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 28.33 million and death toll tops 910,000.
