Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pakistan rose to 511,921 on Thursday after 3,097 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.
Overall, 230,718 cases were confirmed in Sindh, 147,292 in Punjab, 62,377 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 18,488 in Balochistan, 39,624 in Islamabad, 4,882 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 8,540 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
According to the government's COVID-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached to 10,818 with 46 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.
Over the last twenty four hours, total number of recovered COVID-19 patients across the country reached 467,234 after another 2,284 virus recoveries were reported.
Meanwhile, the COVID-19 mutation first found in Britain has now spread to 50 territories, according to the World Health Organisation (WHO), while a similar South African-identified strain has now been found in 20.
The UN body also noted a third new coronavirus “variant of concern” found in Japan may impact upon immune response and needs further investigation.
It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 90.3 million and death toll tops 1.9 million.
