COVID-19: Pakistan reports 1,019 new cases, 34 deaths in last 24 hours

Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pakistan rose to 942,189 on Monday after 1,019 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.

Overall 328,184 cases were confirmed in Sindh, 344,065 in Punjab, 136,074 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 26,232 in Balochistan, 82,139 in Islamabad, 5,712 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 19,783 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

As per National Command and Operation (NCOC) data, 39,214 tests were conducted while positivity ratio remained 2.59%.

According to the government's COVID-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached to 21,723 with 34 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

Over the last twenty four hours, total number of recovered COVID-19 patients across the country reached 878,740 after another 1,549 virus recoveries were reported.

Meanwhile, leaders of the Group Seven (G7) have pledged to raise $100 billion to help poor countries and cut emissions and support a green revolution that creates jobs.

The communique issued after the three-day summit stated that the G7 leaders vowed to end the COVID-19 pandemic and prepare for the future by driving an intensified international effort to vaccinate the entire world.

It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 175.306 million and death toll tops 3.792 million.
