PPP likely to nominate Sherry Rehman as Senate opposition leader

Islamabad (Staff Report): Following the appointment of Chairman and Deputy Chairman of Senate Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on Wednesday has nominated Sherry Rehman as opposition leader in the Senate, the sources reported.

Accoridng to details, Soon PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is likely to formally announce the decision in the upcoming senior leaders meeting has been called later today.

To appoint Rehman as Senate opposition leader PPP will need the support of other opposition parties as the party could grab 20 seats in the recent Senate elections. Earlier this week, opposition parties in the Senate did come together to get Sadiq Sanjrani elected chairman and Saleem Mandviwalla deputy chairman.

It is pertinent to remember that a senior figure in the PPP, Sherry Rehman has served as a senator since 2015 and was also Pakistan’s Ambassador to the US (2011-13) and Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting (2008-09) in the previous government of Asif Ali Zardari.
