Another coronavirus case confirmed in Sindh, national tally rises 29

Karachi (Staff Report/Agencies): Sindh Health Department on Saturday confirmed a new coronavirus case in Karachi, taking the total toll of the infected people across the country to 30.

The 38-year-old patient arrived from Saudi Arabia a few days ago and was tested positive today (Saturday).

According to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) officials, the patient from the capital, a 30-year-old woman, had travelled from the US to Pakistan a few days ago.

The officials added that the woman’s condition was critical and she had been placed on a ventilator. The woman was brought to PIMS from a private hospital.

“Sindh Health Department has a new cases of Corona Virus in Karachi. The patient arrived from Saudi Arab a few days back and was tested positive today. This brings the total number of cases to 16 in Sindh out of which 2 have recovered and sent home and 14 are under treatment,” the department said in a tweet.

The provincial tally now stands at 16 confirmed COVID-19 cases. Two individuals tested positive earlier have recovered and have been discharged from health facilities.

The first case was reported from Islamabad, while the second emerged in Sindh.

The epicentre of the outbreak has now shifted to Europe, which is recording a rapid rise in new cases every day.

Globally, more than 5,000 people have died and more than 145,000 infected globally by COVID-19 as the disease spreads rapidly in new territories.
