COVID-19: Pakistan reports 1,048 new cases, 26 deaths in last 24 hours

Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pakistan rose to 564,077 on Monday after 1,048 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.

Overall, 253,762 cases were confirmed in Sindh, 164,268 in Punjab, 69,990 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 18,942 in Balochistan, 42,688 in Islamabad, 4,940 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 9,487 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

According to the government's COVID-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached to 12,333 with 26 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

Over the last twenty four hours, total number of recovered COVID-19 patients across the country reached 525,997 after another 910 virus recoveries were reported.

Meanwhile, Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar has said that the process of registration of citizens aged 65 and above has been started for vaccination against COVID-19.

In a tweet on Monday, he said the registration can be done by sending CNIC number on 1166. He said the vaccination of this age group will start in March.

It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 108.153,000 million and death toll tops 2.381,000 million.
