There are unmistakable signs of rise in coronavirus, says Asad Umar

Islamabad (Web Desk): Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar on Thursday urged the people to take Covid-19 SOPs seriously after noticing the surge in the infection cases.

In a series of tweets, he warned the masses that the government otherwise may have to take restrictive actions which will have negative effects on the livelihoods of the people.

The minister said that the national positivity of COVID-19 cases was 2.37%on Wednesday, which is the highest in more than 50 days.

Asad Umar added that 11 virus deaths on average have been reported during the first four days of this week, the highest since August 10.

Meanwhile, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases rose to 321,218 after 756 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country during the last twenty four hours.

Overall, 140,997 cases were reported in Sindh, 101,237 in Punjab, 38,464 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 15,599 in Balochistan, 17,681 in Islamabad, 3,982 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 3,258 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

According to the government's Covid-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached 6,614 with 13 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.
