Police officer martyred, five terrorists killed in Peshawar operation

Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): One commando of Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) embraced martyrdom and three others were wounded when police launched an operation against terrorists in Hayatabad.

According to initial reports, police raided a house in Hayatabad phase 7 after receiving reports of the presence of six terrorists — who had earlier attacked a judge and additional inspector-general of police — in a house in the locality.

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) minister for information Shaukat Yousafzai told the media that the militants were hiding in a house and fired at the law enforcers from inside leading to the martyrdom of Assistant Sub-Inspector and injured three cops on Monday night.

The police and security forces have cleared the ground floor of the house but the security personnel were strategically moving forward as there was further information on terrorists’ presence in the basement of the house.
