Tayyaba torture case: IHC indicts child maid's employers

Islamabad (Staff Report): The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has decided to put on trial the couple for the torture case of 10-year-old child maid Tayyaba, dismissing the request of Additional District and Sessions Judge Raja Khurram and his wife Maheen Zafar.

During the court hearing, Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani of IHC ordered to indict the couple after rejecting the compromise notice filed by Tayyaba’s parents that declared all the charges against the session judge and his wife as false.

Tayyaba's parents had also informed the apex court that the accused couple is not responsible for the torture marks on their daughter's body. They also claimed that the case filed against the couple is false.

The trial on a daily basis started in the Islamabad High Court on April 28.

The child maid’s parents had submitted a compromise request in the apex court. They had told the court they did not want to pursue the case any further.
