Pakistani artist Jamil Naqsh passes away in London

Lahore (Web Desk): Renowned Pakistani artist Jamil Naqsh passed away in the United Kingdom on Thursday. He was 80.

Naqsh was widely recognised for his calligraphic works and prowess in figurative art.

The artist was admitted to Saint Mary’s Hospital in London earlier this month and was under treatment for pneumonia. He passed away surrounded by his immediate family members.

Naqsh was born in 1939 in Kairana in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. After relocating to Pakistan, he enrolled at Lahore’s National College of Arts in 1954 and later became a full-time student of master miniaturist Haji Muhammad Sharif.
