COVID-19: Pakistan reports 1,165 new cases, 56 deaths in last 24 hours

Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pakistan rose to 565,989 on Wednesday after 1,165 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.

Overall, 254,286 cases were confirmed in Sindh, 165,200 in Punjab, 70,123 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 18,954 in Balochistan, 42,921 in Islamabad, 4,943 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 9,562 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

According to the government's COVID-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached to 12,436 with 56 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

Over the last twenty four hours, total number of recovered COVID-19 patients across the country reached 528,545 after another 1,484 virus recoveries were reported.

Meanwhile, the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) has asked all frontline health workers to get themselves registered for coronavirus vaccine administration in their respective areas.

In a statement, Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Minister Asad Umar said that frontline workers are the top priority and all efforts will be made for their safety and protection.

It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 108.822,000 million and death toll tops 2.403,000 million.
