Senate elections: ECP starts scrutiny of nomination papers

Islamabad (Web Desk): The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Wednesday started the scrutiny of nomination papers filed for the Senate elections.

According to details, a total of 170 candidates have filed their nomination papers in the ECP for the polls on 48 Senate seats.

The candidates, who submitted nomination papers include, 29 from Punjab, 39 from Sindh, 51 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), 41 from Balochistan and 10 from the federal capital.

The process of scrutiny of nomination papers will continue till February 18.

The candidates can file appeals against acceptance or rejection of nomination papers on February 20 and the last date for disposing of these appeals is February 23.

The revised list of candidates will be published on 24th February 24. The candidates can withdraw their nomination papers on February 25.

The polling will be held on March 3 at the parliament house Islamabad and the four provincial assemblies to elect 48 senators, including 12 from Khyber-Pakhtunkhawa (KP), 12 from Balochistan, 11 from Punjab, 11 from Sindh and 2 from Islamabad.
