At least two dead, several injured in Karachi explosion

Karachi (Staff Report): At least two persons were killed and eleven others were injured in an explosion in Quaidabad area on Friday night.

According to SSP Malir Irfan Bahadur, the blast took place under the Quaidabad flyover near a crowded place where several vendors set up their stalls.

The injured were shifted to Jinnah Hospital whereas Dr Seemi Jamali at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) confirmed the death toll. She said that five wounded persons were in critical condition at the hospital.

The affected area and its surroundings disconnected from the power supply following the blast, which could be heard from a distance.

Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah took notice of the incident and sought a report from the additional inspector-general (AIG) of Sindh police.

Moreover, another bomb planted near the site of the incident was diffused by the bomb disposal squad in its surveillance.

Police authorities revealed that a timing device was also attached to the bomb present in a tiffin box.
