Lahore (Staff Report): The Punjab government has removed Additional Advocate General Khawar Ikram Bhatti, who caught on camera assaulting a police officer outside an accountability court in Islamabad, from his office.
“The competent authority… [has] dispensed with the services of [Bhatti] with immediate effect,” said a notification issued by Punjab Law Secretary Dr Syed Abul Hassan Najmi.
Earlier, Justice Ebadur Rehman Lodhi has barred the accused advocate from appearing before the Lahore High Court . The judge said that a state lawyer should not possess such attitude as he has been appointed to serve the state not a political party.
Meanwhile, Police Inspector Shakeel Ahmed, who was assaulted, registered an FIR against Khawar Ikram Bhatta for slapping and pushing him while he was performing duty.
