COVID-19: Pakistan reports 641 new infections, 13 deaths in last 24 hours

Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The total number of recovered COVID-19 patients in Pakistan reached 306,640 on Saturday after another 805 virus recoveries were reported during the last 24 hours.

Over the last twenty four hours, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases rose to 322,452 after 641 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country.

Overall, 141,474 cases were reported in Sindh, 101,425 in Punjab, 38,565 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 15,644 in Balochistan, 17,913 in Islamabad, 4,033 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 3,398 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

According to the government's Covid-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached 6,638 with 13 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, China has said it is ready to help more countries access and be able to afford Covid-19 vaccines and give priority to the needs of developing countries including the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said China has shared the genetic sequence of the virus with the World Health Organisation (WHO) in a timely manner during the early stages of the pandemic.

"Vaccines are the ultimate weapon to prevail over the epidemic," he said.

It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 39.1 million and death toll tops 1.1 million.
