COVID-19: Pakistan reports 2,928 new cases, 68 deaths in last 24 hours

Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases rose to 1,218,749 on Friday after 2,928 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.

Overall 448,658 cases were confirmed in Sindh, 419,423 in Punjab, 170,391 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 32,707 in Balochistan, 103,720 in Islamabad 10,222 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 33,628 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

As per the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) data, 57,626 tests were conducted in last 24 hours while positivity ratio remained 5.08%.

According to the government's COVID-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached to 27,072 with 68 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

Over the last twenty four hours, total number of recovered COVID-19 patients across the country reached 1,125,952 after another 13,716 virus recoveries were reported.

Meanwhile, Chinese health officials have announced that more than one billion people have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19 in the world’s most populous country, or about 72 per cent of its 1.4 billion people.

By Wednesday, 2.1 billion vaccine doses had been administered and 1.01 billion people had been fully vaccinated, National Health Commission spokesperson Mi Feng said at a news conference.

It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 227.856 million and death toll tops 4,684,463.
