COVID-19: Pakistan reports 357 new cases, 7 deaths in last 24 hours 

Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pakistan rose to 1,290,848 on Saturday after 357 new cases surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.

Overall 478,942 cases were confirmed in Sindh, 444,119 in Punjab, 180,938 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 33,548 in Balochistan, 108,240 in Islamabad, 10,428 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 34,633 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

As per the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) data, 47,903 tests were conducted in last 24 hours while positivity ratio remained 0.74%.

According to the government's COVID-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached to 28,870 with 7 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

Over the last twenty four hours, total number of recovered COVID-19 patients across the country reached 1,252,396 after another 239 virus recoveries were reported.

Meanwhile, Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar, who also heads the NCOC said on Saturday that the need for vaccination is even more urgent after Omicron variant's arrival.

In his post on Twitter, the minister added that so far 8 crore 75 lakh Pakistani's have taken at least one dose and 6 crore people are fully vaccinated.

It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 273.999 million and death toll tops 5,361,511.
