COVID-19: Pakistan reports 2,208 new infections, 37 deaths in last 24 hours

Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pakistan rose to 363,380 on Wednesday after 2,208 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.

Overall, 157,432 cases were reported in Sindh, 111,626 in Punjab, 42,815 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 16,529 in Balochistan, 24,871 in Islamabad, 4,467 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 5,640 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

According to the government's Covid-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached 7,230 with 37 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

Over the last twenty four hours, total number of recovered COVID-19 patients across the country reached 325,788 after another 954 virus recoveries were reported.

Meanwhile, the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government on Tuesday decided to impose a 15-day lockdown starting from November 20 in a bid to curb the spread of coronavirus.

As per the details, the ban will be imposed in all districts simultaneously. Public gatherings, including weddings, have been banned while religious gatherings and funeral prayers will be carried out under COVID-19 SOPs.

It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 55.6 million and death toll tops 1.33 million.
