Islamabad (Staff Report): Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday left for Saudi Arabia for his first foreign trip since taking oath as the country’s premier.
The PM is visiting Saudi Arabia on the invitation of Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman.
Prime Minister Khan is accompanied by Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Finance Minister Asad Umar and Adviser to the prime minister on Commerce Abdul Razak Dawood.
During the visit, Prime Minister Imran Khan will call on King Salman and hold a meeting with the Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman to discuss bilateral relations. The king will also host a state banquet for the prime minister at the Royal Court.
The Secretary General of Organization of Islamic Cooperation Dr. Yousef bin Ahmad Al-Othaimeen will also call on the Prime Minister.
The PM will also perform Umrah and visit Madina to pay respect at Roza-e-Rasool (PBUH).
On Wednesday, Prime Minister Imran Khan along with the delegation will arrive in Abu Dhabi. He is visiting UAE on the invitation of Mohammad bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi. The two leaders will discuss issues of bilateral interest.
Last week, Khan met Saudi Information Minister Dr Awwad bin Saleh Al-Awwad and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi at Prime Minister's Office (PMO) in Islamabad.
During the meeting, Awwad Bin Saleh Al-Awwad assured PM Khan that the Kingdom fully supports Pakistan's efforts to bring peace and stability in the region. The two officials discussed other matters of mutual interest as well.
The Saudi official conveyed felicitations to PM Khan on behalf of the Saudi Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman, and invited him to visit Saudi Arabia.
