COVID-19: Pakistan reports 752 new infections, 9 deaths in last 24 hours

Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The total number of recovered COVID-19 patients in Pakistan reached 291, 683 on Friday after another 514 virus recoveries were reported during the last 24 hours.


Over the last twenty four hours, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases rose to 304,386 after 752 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country.

Overall, 133,125 cases were reported in Sindh, 98,142 in Punjab, 37,242 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 13,991 in Balochistan, 16,033 in Islamabad, 3,381 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 2,472 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

According to the government's Covid-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached 6,408 with 9 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the World Health Organisation (WHO) has lauded Pakistan for effectively overcoming Covid-19.

Addressing an event in connection with World Patients Safety Day, WHO Country Representative Dr Palitha Mahipala said Pakistan is one of the seven countries in the world to overcome the pandemic.

He said opening educational institutions is a difficult decision, adding that the WHO, Ministry of Health and medical staff are working together to train teachers to create awareness about the deadly disease.

It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 30.2 million and death toll tops 944,000.
