New York (Web Desk): The United Nations has confirmed that a vehicle of the UN Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) was damaged by an “unidentified object” near Rawalakot and that it was investigating the matter.

Speaking at the regular briefing in New York, UN Deputy Spokesman Farhan Haq said the incident occurred when military observers were conducting routine monitoring activities.

He said the Mission is currently investigating the incident.

“Indian Army resorted to unprovoked fire in Chirikot Sector of LOC. Indian troops deliberately targeted a United Nations vehicle with 2 Military Observers on board, enroute to interact with CFV victims in Polas Village in Chirikot Sector,” the ISPR said in a tweet.

On Saturday, the Foreign Office (FO) summoned the Indian Chargé d'Affaires over the "deliberate targeting" of the UN vehicle by Indian occupation forces.
