COVID-19: Pakistan reports 440 new infections, 5 deaths in last 24 hours

Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The total number of recovered COVID-19 patients in Pakistan reached 307,409 on Monday after another 340 virus recoveries were reported during the last 24 hours.

Over the last twenty four hours, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases rose to 323,452 after 440 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country.

Overall, 141,841 cases were reported in Sindh, 101,652 in Punjab, 38,652 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 15,688 in Balochistan, 18,069 in Islamabad, 4,059 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 3,498 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

According to the government's Covid-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached 6,659 with 5 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Social Protection Dr Sania Nishtar said that the Covid-19 pandemic has shown how critical health is to the security of every country.

She said this while representing Pakistan at an online event arranged by the World Bank Group to highlight current challenges to poverty reduction.

The SAPM said that Pakistan has been extremely response working to ensure a one-government approach to health, poverty alleviation and ensuring an economic recovery that works for everyone.

It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 40 million and death toll tops 1.1 million.
