COVID-19: Pakistan reports 513 new infections, 8 deaths in 24 hours

Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The total number of recovered COVID-19 patients in Pakistan reached 272,804 on Thursday after another 676 virus recoveries were reported during the last 24 hours.

Over the last twenty four hours, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases rose to 290,958 after 513 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country.

Overall, 127,060 cases were reported in Sindh, 95,800 in Punjab, 35,468 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 12,403 in Balochistan, 15,425 in Islamabad, 2,583 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 2,219 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

According to the government's Covid-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached 6,209 with 8 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M) chief Sardar Akhtar Mengal on Wednesday announced that he had tested positive for coronavirus.

In his message on Twitter, the BNP leader said that he is advising everyone who interacted with him in the last few days to get tested for the virus immediately.

It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 22.5 million and death toll tops 790,000.
