Quetta (Staff Report): Security forces have foiled a terror plot targetting Balochistan governor Muhammad Khan Achakzai
While addressing a joint press conference with DIG Abdul Razzaq Cheema, provincial home minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti said security forces foiled a terrorist attack in Qilla Abdulla and arrested two terrorists from Gulistan area.
The terrorists, namely Hamid Bashir and Munawar, intended to carry out an attack on Balochistan governor Muhammad Khan Achakzai, he said.
“These terrorists had formed the plan in Afghanistan to assassinate the governor of Balochistan and were linked to the same group that was involved in the assassination of Shuja Khanzada,” said Sarfraz Bugti.
The forces recovered suicide jackets and weapons from the terrorists’ possession during the operation that came days after a suicide bomber ripped through a church in the city killing 9 people.
