Hajj corruption case: IHC acquits Hamid Saeed Kazmi, Rao Shakeel

Islamabad (Staff Report): Islamabad High Court (IHC) has acquitted former PPP minister Hamid Saeed Kazmi and former DG Hajj Rao Shakeel in Hajj Corruption case.

IHC judge Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani announced the verdict.

Earlier, trial court had awarded 16 years in jail to Hamid Saeed Kazmi in the case, while former DG Hajj Rao Shakeel and joint secretary religious affairs Raja Aftab Aslam were each awarded 40 years and 16 years in prison, respectively.

Kazmi and Aftab were arrested from the court premises after the sentence was pronounced and escorted to Adiala Jail by Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) officials in June last year. Shakeel was taken into custody by the National Accountability Bureau officials in Lahore.
