SC suspends VC of Punjab University

Lahore (Staff Report): The Punjab University’s Vice Chancellor (VC) Dr. Zakria on Saturday submitted his resignation to registrar after orders of the Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan.

According to details, the court carried the court proceedings of the case regarding the allotment of 80 kanal of the University’s land to the government for Orange Line Train project and construction of grid station.

SC has ordered to suspend VC Dr. Zakria and has installed a senior professor as temporary Vice Chancellor.

The Court also summoned the members of the syndicate that was responsible for selling the land.

The Chief Justice then wondered why the University had not had a permanent VC for the past two years, and ordered that he be informed of who was responsible for the delay.

It is pertinent to remember that on April 19, Chief Justice Saqib Nisar had taken suo moto notice of the case.
