COVID-19: Pakistan reports 1,360 new cases, 31 deaths in last 24 hours

Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pakistan rose to 1,501,680 on Monday after 1,360 new cases surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.

Overall 564,522 cases were confirmed in Sindh, 499,063 in Punjab, 214,955 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 35,274 in Balochistan, 133,839 in Islamabad, 11,358 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 42,669 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

As per the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) data, 41,597 tests were conducted in last 24 hours while positivity ratio remained 3.26%.

According to the government's COVID-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached to 30,040 with 31 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

Over the last twenty four hours, total number of recovered COVID-19 patients across the country reached 1,403,968 after another 1,315 virus recoveries were reported.

Meanwhile, Pakistan on Sunday received another shipment of 4.7 million Pfizer vaccines from the US, bringing the total donated by the country to almost 57 million.

In a statement, the US Embassy in Islamabad said that the country is "happy to partner with Pakistan to end the COVID pandemic because Pakistan turns vaccines into vaccinations."

It also congratulated Pakistan on administering over 205 million vaccine doses thus far.

Till date, US has donated over 453 million vaccines around the world, the statement added.

It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 425,084 million and death toll tops 5,906,564.
