At least 6 killed as fresh quake hits Turkiye-Syria border

Antakya (Web Desk): At least Six people were killed in the latest earthquake that hit the border area of Turkiye and Syria, authorities reported on Tuesday.

According to Turkiye's Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), there had been 90 aftershocks. Six thousand tents were sent to the area overnight for residents alarmed by the new quake.

Turkish Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu said three people have been killed and over two hundred injured after a earthquake struck southern Hatay province.

Meanwhile, according to Syria Civil Defence White Helmets, more than 130 people were injured and that some already damaged buildings had collapsed.

On February 6, a 7.8-magnitude quake struck the same area, killing more than 44,000 people in Turkey and Syria.

As per AFAD, more than 6,000 aftershocks have been recorded since the 7.8-magnitude quake hit Turkiye and Syria.
