Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Imran Khan appointed Lieutenant General Nadeem Raza as the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) on Thursday.
According to a statement issued by Prime Minister House, PM Imran Khan gave approval for the appointment and it will take effect from November 27, 2019.
The notification for Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Bajwa’s extension in the tenure was issued on August 19, the statement added.
According to a twee by the Information Ministry: “It may be recalled that notification for reappointment of General Qamar Javed Bajwa, NI( M) as COAS for another tenure has already been issued on 19 Aug 19.”

Currently, General Zubair Mahmood Hayat is serving as the CJCSC and is set to retire on November 28, 2019.
LT Gen Nadeem Raza has earlier served as the Commandant of the Pakistan Military Academy (PMA) Kakul and Corps Commander Rawalpindi.
Earlier on Thursday, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa also called on Prime Minister Imran Khan to discuss matters related to national security.
According to sources, the prime minister and the army chief discussed matters related to national security.
This was the second meeting between the prime minister and the army chief within a span of around a week.
On November 15, COAS Gen Bajwa also called on PM Imran and discussed the situation in occupied Kashmir, the western border and internal security of Pakistan.
PM Imran Khan had appreciated the efforts of the armed forces to facilitate social and economic progress.
