Electricity charges shoots up to Rs3.90 per unit

Islamabad (Staff Report): National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has approved Rs3.90 increase per unit in power tariff for domestic consumers.

According to the tariff determined by Nepra, domestic consumers, especially those consuming between 100 and 300 units, are likely to see their tariff increase further by Rs1.50 per unit.

Under the announced power tariff, consumers will have to pay Rs 7.60 for 100 units and Rs 11 per unit for consumers of 200 units.

For consumers using 300 units, the tariff will go up by Rs 12.50 per unit. Consumers using upto 700 units will see their tariff increase by Rs13.80. For consumers using more than 700 units, the tariff will rise by Rs15.50 per unit.

It is pertinent to remember that Nepra had rejected the appeals of power distribution companies to increase the tariff.
