COVID-19: Pakistan reports 1,897 new cases, 81 deaths in last 24 hours

Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases rose to 1,227,905 on Tuesday after 1,897 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.

Overall 451,448 cases were confirmed in Sindh, 423,670 in Punjab, 171,589 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 32,772 in Balochistan, 104,348 in Islamabad 10,257 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 33,821 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

As per the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) data, 51,348 tests were conducted in last 24 hours while positivity ratio remained 4.10%.

According to the government's COVID-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached to 27,327 with 81 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

Over the last twenty four hours, total number of recovered COVID-19 patients across the country reached 1,137,656 after another 2,618 virus recoveries were reported.

Meanwhile, Pfizer Inc and BioNTech SE said on Monday their Covid-19 vaccine induced a robust immune response in 5 to 11 year olds, and they plan to ask for authorisation to use the vaccine in children in that age range in the United States, Europe and elsewhere as soon as possible.

It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 229.850 million and death toll tops 4,713,974.
