COVID-19: Pakistan reports 1,160 new cases, 16 deaths in last 24 hours

Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pakistan rose to 572,334 on Monday after 1,160 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.

Overall, 256,220 cases were confirmed in Sindh, 167,819 in Punjab, 71,043 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 18,988 in Balochistan, 43,485 in Islamabad, 4,951 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 9,828 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

According to the government's COVID-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached to 12,617 with 16 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

Over the last twenty four hours, total number of recovered COVID-19 patients across the country reached 535,491 after another 1,384 virus recoveries were reported.

Meanwhile, United Nations (UN) Secretary General Antonio Guterres has called for a global ceasefire to enable humanitarian access for the delivery of COVID-19 vaccine worldwide.

In a series of tweets, he said when people fight each other in the middle of a pandemic the only winner is the virus.

About racism the UN Chief said we must do more and must act instead of merely condemning the acts of racism.

It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 110.749,000 million and death toll tops 2.455,000 million.
