COVID-19: Pakistan reports 663 new cases, 27 deaths in last 24 hours

Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pakistan rose to 949,838 on Tuesday after 663 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.

Overall 332,677 cases were confirmed in Sindh, 345,141 in Punjab, 137,147 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 26,673 in Balochistan, 82,394 in Islamabad, 5,827 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 19,979 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

As per National Command and Operation (NCOC) data, 39, 017 tests were conducted while positivity ratio remained 1.69%.

According to the government's COVID-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached to 22,034 with 27 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

Over the last twenty four hours, total number of recovered COVID-19 patients across the country reached 894,352 after another 1,204 virus recoveries were reported.

Meanwhile, Pakistan on Monday signed an agreement with Pfizer Pakistan under which it would receive 13 million doses of the American vaccine.

“The agreement was signed by Pfizer Pakistan and the National Disaster Manage­ment Authority (NDMA) to supply 13 million doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine (BNT162b2). Deliveries are planned during the course of 2021,” said a statement issued by a publicity firm.

It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 179.556 million and death toll tops 3.888 million.
