Abbasi, Khursheed Shah fail to reach consensus over caretaker PM

Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Khursheed Shah on Tuesday failed to finalize name of caretaker Premier.

Both the leaders held a meeting for the fifth time and the final name was expected to be announced today. However, both high ups were unable to select a name for the slot.

Khurhseed Shah spoke to media and informed that another meeting will be held with Prime Minister Abbasi tomorrow or day after to finalise the caretaker premier.

A four-member committee to be formed to select the interim PM in case government and opposition failed to reach a decision, he added.

As per earlier details, government had suggested three names of Justice (r) Nasir Malik, Justice (r) Tasdeeque Jelani and Doctor Shamshad Akhtar.

With the claims of honest and good track record persons, all three mainstream political parties have proposed their candidates for the caretaker Prime Minister.

After the PPP the ruling party PML-N had also unveiled its proposed names for the caretaker Prime Minister.

The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has finalised the names of Zaka Ashraf and Jalil Abbas Jilani for the post. 

Earlier, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had finalized the names of Justice (r) Nasir-ul-Mulk, Tassaduq Jilani and Ishrat Hussain for caretaker prime minister while Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) suggested names of Zaka Ashraf and Jalil Abbas Jilani.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PIT) had finalised the names of Dr Ishrat Hussain, Tassaduq Jilani and Abdul Razzaq Dawood, while, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) had finalised the name of Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan for the caretaker PM.

PTI has categorically rejected the names finalised by the PPP.
