COVID-19: Vaccination for people over 30 begins today

Islamabad (Web Desk): The government has announced that vaccinations for individuals aged between 30 - 40 years have begun from today (Saturday).

In a message on twitter, the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) has also urged people to register themselves for the jabs by sending their CNIC number to 1166.

On Friday, Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar, who also heads the NCOC, tweeted: “In today’s NCOC meeting it has been decided to open up vaccination for 30 years and older starting tomorrow. The messages for those who are being scheduled will go out today.”

On the other hand, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pakistan rose to 897,468 on Saturday after 4,007 infections surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.

As per the NCOC data, 62,238 tests were conducted while positivity ratio remained 6.43%.

According to the government's COVID-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached to 20,177 with 88 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

Over the last twenty four hours, total number of recovered COVID-19 patients across the country reached 813,855 after another 3,172 virus recoveries were reported.
