COVID-19: Pakistan reports 567 new cases, 16 deaths in last 24 hours

Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pakistan rose to 1,267,393 on Friday after 567 new cases surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.

Overall 466,945 cases were confirmed in Sindh, 438,636 in Punjab, 177,240 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 33,159 in Balochistan, 106,615 in Islamabad 10,376 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 34,422 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

As per the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) data, 39,200 tests were conducted in last 24 hours while positivity ratio remained 1.4%.

According to the government's COVID-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached to 28,344 with 16 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

Over the last twenty four hours, total number of recovered COVID-19 patients across the country reached 1,214,663 after another 864 virus recoveries were reported.

Meanwhile, in a move to meet vaccination targets, the government of Punjab has announced it will kick off its door-to-door COVID-19 vaccination drive from October 25.

As per a notification issued by the Punjab government, the campaign initiated by the provincial government will last till November 12.

The notification said that people will be vaccinated at their homes across nine divisions and 36 districts of the province.

It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 243.315 million and death toll tops 4,946,050.
